With the heavy rain in March, access to the Round Hole and the trail that went down over Cannon Creek was blocked, not only by flood waters but also a large tree that had fallen. We have often thought of taking the trail, across Cannon Creek, just up from the Round Hole but we thought we would have to put in a bridge or some other way of crossing the creek when it flooded and of course this idea brought with it huge problems. It didn't seem to be an easy fix. Necessity, being the mother of invention, has led us down another path. We followed an animal trail, down under the ti-tree, wattle and paperbark trees. Found an easy place to cross Cannon Creek, just below the Round Hole. The Path goes close by the Amphitheatre . Meanders easily along the north-eastern side of Cannon Creek, intersecting the path to the Top of the Gorge half-way along, and then descending down again. Eventually the new path connects with the Broadwater crossing at the end of Doro's Hole. Next time you visit Earth & Soul, you will have to follow the Wallaby Trail.
