The Fortress is a great place to explore a section of Cannon Creek Gorge that is not accessible from the Gorge Walk side.
To get to the Fortress, follow the Wallaby Trail across the Paperbark Crossing.
Halfway between the Amphitheatre and the turn into the Top of the Gorge
Turn into the short path (108 metres) to the Fortress.
The path winds through a field of granite boulders, through the flannel flowers and other wild flowers such as hovea and pomax.
On the way look for features in the rocks such as the King's Throne and the Guard Dog.
Closer to the Fortress are the Queen's Tiara and the Saddle from the King's Horse.
In fact you can find most anything that your mind can see in the shapes of the rocks, similar to cloud gazing.

Exploring around the base of the Fortress reveals some nice spots for relaxing and enjoying the surrounds.
